Castle Tegel - von Humboldt Museum, a former royal hunting lodge, came into the hands of the von Humboldt family in 1766. The famous brothers Wilhelm and Alexander lived on the estate in their childhood.

Alexander von Humboldt had the castle and gardens renovated in a Classicist style, designed by the famous Karl Friedrich Schinkel. 

The castle is still owned by the von Humboldt descendants but it is open to the public in summer and can be visited by guided tours.
