Troja Castle, a splendid Baroque palace was built for the Counts von Sternberg from 1679 to 1691. The palace and its beautiful gardens, owned by the City of Prague, are open to the public.

Cultural highlight of the building is its main room, entirely covered by tromp-l'oeil decoration, in honour of the Habsburgs, realised by Abraham and Izaac Godijn from Antwerp. Noteworthy are also the stairs leading to the gardens from the hands of two sculptors from Dresden: Johann Georg and Paul Heermann. The statues representing the fight of gods.

The beautifully manicured garden's central axis projects towards the spires of the St. Vitus Cathedral in the Prague Castle.

The castle houses in addition the 19th century Czech art collections of the City Gallery.

Troja Castle is also a venue for film & photo shooting, cultural, corporate and private events, such as concerts, receptions, weddings...
