Tropenmuseum, an ethnographic museum opened in 1871, focuses cultures from around the world, from Africa to Southeast Asia and from India to Latin America. The permanent exhibitions display treasures from the Dutch East Indies in the VOC era, among other things.
A new wing, especially focused on children, the Tropenmuseum Junior, was added in the 1970s.
The museum, housed in a beautiful building, and is one of Amsterdam hidden treasures.
