Valdemar Castle was commissioned by King Christian IV for his son Valdemar, and built between 1639 and 1644. In 1678 the nobel Admiral Niel Juel received the estate from the crown. It stayed in his family up to the present day.

The caste is open to the public by guided tours and the estate is used for many types of sportive and cultural events such as mini golf, horseback riding and concerts. The castle houses also the Hunting and Trophy Museum.
