Voergaard Castle

Voergaard Castle, dating back to 1481, is since 1963 in the hands of the family trust on behalf of the Danish/French Count E. Oberbech-Clausen, with the purpose preserving the castle for posterity and keep his art collection open to the public.

The castle was was bought by the count in 1955 and had it extensively restored. The art collection comes for a substantial part from his wife, a former widow of Count Chenu-Lafitte and she was the daughter of the famous surgeon Péan. Both man owned an important art collection.

The castle is surrounded by a large park and is free.
