Waterford Treasures, Reginalds Tower

Reginald’s Tower, Ireland’s oldest civic building, houses an exhibition on Viking Waterford. It was built by Vikings after 914 and formed the apex of the triangular settlement, an area known to this day as the Viking Triangle. Re-built by the Anglo Normans in the 12th century the top two floors were added in the 15th century. 

The museum is part of Waterford Treasures, a group of 3 different museums, with tell the 1100 year old story of Waterford, from its foundation in 914 by Viking sea pirates, to the late 20th century. The Waterford Treasures include the Reginald’s Tower, housing the Treasures of Viking Waterford, the Medieval Museum, and the elegant Neo-Classical Bishop’s Palace built in 1743 is the home of the Treasures of 18th, 19th and 20th centuries.
