Parc culturel de Rentilly - Château de Rentilly

Castles & Country Houses, Museums & Art Centres
The Parc culturel de Rentilly is the modernized Château de Rentilly, which serves today as an exhibition space for contemporary art. The château dates back to the 15th century but was modernized many times.

In 1890 the estate was acquired by the Menier family, where they stayed until 1988. They made several modifications such as the construction of the Turkish baths (which can be seen) and the transformation of the stables in garages. During WW II, the castle was accupied and burned down by the Germans, and rebuilt with a simpler and less remarkable architecture.

In public hands, it was decided to rehabilitate the castle as an exhibition centre, which resulted that it was dressed with mirrors.
