Castle Gaasbeek dates back to the 13th century as part of a wider defence line around Brussels, like the castle of Groot-Bijgaarden. It is presently a museum and the gardens are open to the public.
The castle was occupied by a succession of noble families such as Egmont and Arconati Visconti.
The museum also organises exhibitions of contemporary artists, and is a venue for selected events, such stylish evenings, concerts...
