The Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel is not only a centre of musical experience for these young artists, but also a musical experience for music lovers, visitors and concertgoers, thanks to a new 250-person performance hall.
It all started in 1939 when Queen Elisabeth of Belgium, was a keen violinist herself, founded this institution, based on the ambitions, ideas and philosophy of her highly regarded friend Eugène Ysaÿe (1858– 1931)

The first mention of Middachten appears in the year 1190, and although the castle dates from the early Middle Ages, the house in its present form was built towards the end of the 17th century and still includes some medieval parts. Middachten is unique in that it is still a real, working estate. Besides the castle, park and gardens, the estate also includes farms, woods and agricultural land.
The Palace was build as a town hall and considered as one of the world wonders of its time. From the Napoleontic time up to the Orange Dynasty, it is used as a royal palace and often used for representation puposes such as state-visits, dinners, receptions etc.. It can be visited when not in use by the Royal Family.
