Botanic Garden Meise or National Botanical Garden of Belgium (92 ha), is one of the largest botanic gardens in the world with an extensive collection of living plants and a herbarium, of over 3 million specimens. 

The garden is located in the grounds of Bouchout Castle. The castle was bought by the Belgian court In 1879, and served as residence for the King's sister, Charlotte, the dowager Empress of Mexico. After her death most of the furnishings were transferred to the Royal Palace at Laeken. 

The castle was restored between 1987 and 1989 and serves as a venue for film & photo shooting, cultural, corporate and private events, such as lectures, exhibitions, receptions, weddings...
