The Fort de Mutzig, built between 1893 and 1916, is one of the fortifications built by Germany at the end of the 19th century to defend Strasbourg and was the largest (254 ha) fortification in the German Empire at the beginning of WW I.
The Fortress, also known as “Feste Kaiser Wilhelm II“, is one of the best sites in Alsace for research into military architecture, technology and history.
