Museums & Art Centres
The Gravensteen Castle, as we see it today, was constructed in 1180 as the residence of the Counts of Flanders, which it stayed until 1353. After that it had many different functions, such as prison, a court, print and factory, until it was restored early 20th century and turned into a museum.
Nex plans are made for a complete make-over of the museum.
