Kelmscott House, Museum
Kelmscott House is the seat of The William Morris Society, which was founded in 1955 to share knowledge of the life and works of William Morris amongst our members and the wider public. It was the house where William Morris (1834 – 1896), the British textile designer, poet, novelist, translator and socialist activist, lived from 1878 until his death.
Morris would become one of the most significant figures in the arts and crafts movement.
The Society’s small museum is in the coach house and basement rooms of Kelmscott House, whereas the main section of the house is still a home today.
