Le prieuré Saint-Cosme

Le prieuré Saint-Cosme dates back to 11th century and is built on an island in the Loire. Today it houses a museum dedicated to the poet Ronsard (1524-1585), who was prior here and who's house still exists.
In 1742 the priory was suppressed and partly dismantled, whereas it was heavily destroyed during WWII.
From 1951 the public authorities have executed important restorations opened the museum and recreated nine gardens.
