Lisdisfarne Castle was built in 1550 but much remodelled by Sir Edwin Lutyens in 1901, when it became the property of the publishing magnate and the owner of Country Life magazine, Edward Hudson. Gertrude Jekyll created a small flower garden for Edward Hudson in the same year.

She converted an existing walled area into a flower garden.

The castle is located on Holy Island.

Since 1944 Lisdisfarne Castle is in the hands of the National Trust.

The castle is also a venue for TV, Film & Photo shooting, corporate and private events, such as weddings...
