Löwenburg Castle

Castles & Country Houses, Gardens & Parks, Museums & Art Centres
Löwenburg Castle was built by Landgrave Wilhelm IX at the end of the 18th century for his mistress Karoline von Schlotheim. It is located in Wilhelmshöhe Berg Park and has the appearance of a medieval knight's castle, while its interior is Baroque style.

The castle contains not only the princely apartments but also an armoury and a Neo-Gothic chapel. Due to restoration works only a part is open to the public with guided tours.
