Villa del Balbianello
Castles & Country Houses, Event, Film & Wedding Hire, Gardens & Parks
Villa del Balbianello was constructed in 1787, on the site of a Franciscan monastery, for Cardinal Angelo Durini. It later became property of the Visconti family, who sold it to the American General Butler. The latter restored the villa and its garden.
He, in turn, sold it to Count Guido Monzino, the businessman and (Mount Everest) explorer. Count Monzino left the outside and gardens unchanged, but completely redecorated and refurbished the Villa's interior.
At his death in 1998, the property was bequeathed to the Fundo Ambiente Italano.
The Villa del Balbianello is today also a venue for corporate and private events, such as reception, dinners, weddings....
