Villa La Quiete

Castles & Country Houses, Gardens & Parks, Museums & Art Centres
The Villa La Quiete is a blueprint of the history of the Medici House, devotion and female education, featuring artistic treasures of the 17th and 18th centuries. The Italian gardens date back to the reign of Anna Maria Luisa de’ Medici (1667 – 1743), as she chose the villa as her place of retreat in the summers.

The Villa preserves the historical and artistic heritage linked to the Montalve, a congregation founded in the 17th century by Eleonora Ramirez de Montalvo, which became nuns in 1939 and lived and looked after the Villa for over three centuries.

Villa La Quiete is the property of Regione Toscana, but managed by the University Museum System, which owns the historic patrimony in it.
