Castles & Country Houses, Museums & Art Centres
The Gruuthusemuseum, housed in the recently restored city palace of the lords of Gruuthuse, tells the story of the city's past through a fine collection of tapestries, paintings, archive documents, lace and silverware, from the 15th to the 19th century.

Amongst the items displayed you can admire the painted terracotta bust of Emperor Charles V from 1520, which is attributed to Conrad Meit (1480s -1550/1551)
