Museums & Art Centres
The Musée des Peintres de Barbizon, housed in a former inn, the Auberge Ganne, is dedicated to the painters of the Barbizon school. Barbizon, often called the 'painters village', was one of the favourite destinations for 19th -century artists, who wanted to swap their studios for nature and to bring more Realism in art. The movement lasted more or less from 1830-1870.
