The Museum of the Opificio Delle Pietre Dure, displays wonderful examples of pietre dure works such as finished works dating back to the time of the Medici, as well as the technical processes of pietre dure works through history.

The museum is part of the 'Opificio Delle Pietre Dure', which means 'Workshop of semi-precious stones'. It is one of two Italian State conservation schools and globally renowned in the field of art restoration.

The Opificio was founded by Ferdinando I de’ Medici in 1588, for the creation of pieces of inlaid precious and semi-precious stoneworks, cups, vases, reliefs, cameos, furniture and paintings...
