Picton Castle was built at the end of the 13th century and came later (15th century) into the hands of the Philipps family, who still inhabit it today. Run by the Picton Castle Trust, the castle and gardens are open to the public.
It is surrounded by a woodland garden and an old kitchen garden now used for flowering plants
Picton is also used for cultural and other events such as Spring, Country and Christmas Fairs. The Picton Courtyard Gallery hosts a variety of high quality art exhibitions through the summer months. There is a local Art Club and art courses for all.
