Royal Palace of Turin, dating back to the 16th century, has been on of the residences of the Royal House of Savoy, until 1946, when it was converted by the Italian State into a "Museum of the Life and Works of the House of Savoy".

The Palace contains the famous staircase, Scala delle Forbici, by Filippo Juvarra, and is richly decorated with furniture, tapestries, Chinese and Japanese vases. 

Today the museum is part of the Musei Reali di Torino (Royal Palace, the Sabauda Gallery, the Archaeological Museum, the Armoury and the Royal Library).
