Varaždin Castle

Varaždin Castle, or 'Old Town', built between the 14th and 17th centuries and serving as the seat of the feudal administration, houses today the Cultural and Historical Department of the Varaždin City Museum. On display are items from the fine and applied arts from the Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo, Classicism, Empire, Biedermeier, Historicism and Secession.
In addition you can admire collections of guilds, glass, ceramics and watch collection, targets, weapons and firearms, historical portraits, as well as exhibits on fashion from the past.
The castle was acquired in 1925 by the Municipality of Varaždin from its last private owners, the Counts of Erdödy.
There is also the royal chapel of St. Lawrence and its attached sacristy.
