Villa Melzi & Gardens

Villa Melzi was built, neo-classical style, between 1808 and 1810 for Francesco Melzi d’Eril, count of Lodi and Vice president of the First Italian Republic in the time of Napoleon. The park was commissioned to Luigi Canonica and the agronomist Luigi Villoresi.
The romantic park contain many features such as Egyptian sculptures and Roman statues, exotic trees, a Japanese pond with water lilies, surrounded by Japanese maple trees and cedar trees, azaleas and rhododendrons.
The Villa's present owner is Count Gallarati Scotti.
The park is open from the end of March to the beginning of November everyday from 9,30 to 18,30.
