Blaise Hamlet

Gardens & Parks
Blaise Hamlet was built in 1811 to accommodate retired staff from the Blaise estate, owned at the time by John Scandrett Harford, a Bristol banker and Quaker.

When John Harford bought the estate he commissioned Humphry Repton to redesign the grounds. Repton worked together with John Nash on this project and it was Nash who designed the Hamlet.

Blaise Hamlet is a pioneer example of a planned community .

The public is only allowed to the village green, the cottages being lived in privately.
