Brijuni National Park
The 14 islands consist of two larger ones called, Veli Brijun and Mali Brijun, and twelve islets. The islands are covered with pine and olive trees. They offer a fascinating combination of interesting marine life (snorkelling) and ancient Roman ruins to explore.
The rich cultural and historical heritage of Brijuni are enhanced by permanent exhibitions such as "Memories of an old Austrian", "Josip Broz Tito on Brioni", the natural history collection exhibiting taxidermied animals from the Brijuni zoo and safari park, as well as the exhibition of copies of frescoes and Glagolitic inscriptions of Istria and Kvarner.
During the Mesozoic Period, the Earth was ruled by the dinosaurs, magnificent and terrible reptiles. More than 200 dinosaur footprints have been discovered at four sites on Veliki Brijun.
In addition, you can admire many sculptures of various historical and stylistic periods of the 20th century.
