Trakoscan Castle Museum

Castles & Country Houses, Gardens & Parks, Museums & Art Centres
The Trakoscan Castle Museum is a fairy tale castle with a park, a lake, and a history of over 800 years. Originally it was a defence fortress, until Count Draskovic turned it into one of the most beautiful castles in the 19th century.

Today the castle is one of the few facilities in Croatia with preserved its own constitution, historically closely related to the architectural framework and the life of its owners.

For over half a century it has contained a museum with a valuable collection of paintings, furniture, weapons and priceless objects from the Renaissance until Historicism. They are exhibited in the original interior space of the castle and they represent the life of the nobility and the Draskovic family in Trakoscan.

The castle is surrounded by a beautiful forest park including the 5 km educational path “Puta vila” (Fairy Path) with 20 educational stops.
