Castles & Country Houses, Gardens & Parks
Hinton Ampner House dates back to the 1540s, but what we see today is the restored Georgian house, from the late 1700s. The garden was made in the 1930s by its last private owner Ralph Dutton, the 8th baron Sherborne.
Lord Sherborne had no direct heirs and gave Hinton Ampner House to the National Trust on his death in 1985
The Dutton family had owned Hinton Amper House, by inheritance, since 1803
The house contains the beautiful family collection.
