Károlyi Castle, Füzérradvány

Castles & Country Houses, Gardens & Parks
The Károlyi Castle in Füzérradvány is closely linked to the counts Károlyi. It was given to László Károlyi in 1686. During the 16-17th century, the Károlyis played an important role in Hungarian history and became one of the most eminent families in the country.

In the mid-19th century count Ede Károlyi reconstructed the castle and created the English landscape park. The castle was deigned by the architect Miklós Ybl.

The castle and park were remodelled again around the turn of the 19-20th century by his son László, whereas he mainly lives at his estate in Fót.

Today the castle is in the process of important renovations. The beautiful park with its giant trees, its paths, bridges spanning the brook, a fishing pond, plane trees, spreading lime trees, columnar English oaks and a multi-trunk tulip poplar, is open to the public.
