The Musée de la Vie romantique, located in Hotel Scheffer-Renan, is dedicated to historical romantic period of the 19th century, with personalities like Georges Sand, Chopin, Liszt, Berlioz, Rossini, Ingres, Delacroix, Pauline Viardot, Turgieniev, Gounod....
The house was the Paris base of the renowned Dutch-born painter of that period, Ari Scheffer (1795–1858). He and his daughter hosted Friday-evening where many of these figures were regular guests.
