New Residenz, Salzburg

Museums & Art Centres
The New Residenz, completely renovated and part of the Salzburg museum organization, presents the art and cultural history of the city and region of Salzburg through its continually changing exhibitions as well as the permanent exhibition “The Salzburg Myth”, featuring the historical development of the city.

The venue has been largely preserved in its original condition and is equipped with the newest multimedia technology.

The construction of the New Residence in Salzburg took over one hundred years, whereas four archbishops were responsible for its final appearance. The work started in 1588, when under Archbishop Wolf Dietrich von Raitenau the former buildings were torn down.
