Palazzo Davanzati Museo

Castles & Country Houses, Museums & Art Centres
The Palazzo Davanzati Museo, also known as the Museum of the Historic Florentine House (Museo della Casa Fiorentina Antica), was originally home to the Davizzi, a wealthy family of merchants and bankers, but was acquired by the Davanzati family in the late sixteenth century.

The Davanzati inhabited the palazzo until 1838, when the family’s last heir, Carlo, died of the tragic death.

It was acquired by the Italian State in the mid 1950s and was reopened as a public museum in 1956, retaining much of its former character as a re-imagination of a medieval Florentine aristocratic house. It displays a diverse collection of sculptures, paintings, furniture, ceramics, lace, and historic objects of daily use.
