Skokloster Castle

Castles & Country Houses, Gardens & Parks, Museums & Art Centres
Skokloster Castle was built by Count Carl Gustaf Wrangel, the famous statesman and general, and is today a state museum displaying collections of paintings, furniture, textiles, tableware, books and weapons.

The castle was never completely finished. It was sold in 1967 by the von Essen family, who got the estate by inheritance, to the state.

The beautiful gardens include also the famous avenues of lime trees that have stood here since the 1680's.
