Stowe House, owned by the Temple-Grenville family from 1589 until 1921, is an impressive country house, which is today owned by the Stowe House Preservation Trust. The surrounding 26 ha (64 acres) landscape park is in the hands of the National Trust.
Stowe House is, since 1923, housing the Stowe School, but certain parts of the house, such as the restored State Rooms, are open to the public.
