Botanical Garden Villa Taranto

Villa Taranto was created by the Australian-Scottish Captain, Neil McEacharn, between 1931 and 1940. The 16 ha gardens contain nearly 20,000 plant varieties. There is also a herbarium and the founder's mausoleum.
Neil Boyd McEacharn named the villa in honour of his ancestor Etienne Macdonanld, who was made Duke of Taranto by Napoleon.
After McEacharn's death in 1964 the property been run by a non-profit organization, whereas the villa is not open to the public.
