Brantwood was the home of John Ruskin (1819-1900), the leading art critic, art patron, water-colourist and philanthropist. He lived here from 1872 until 1900. Today the house is a museum and art centre.
Brantwood is surrounded by romantic gardens and a 101 ha (250 acres) historical Lakeland estate. The unique gardens and wooded estate are beautiful at all seasons.
The house contains many treasures, furniture, paintings and other personal much beloved item from Ruskin.
