Castles & Country Houses, Gardens & Parks, Museums & Art Centres
The Castle of Agliè, Castello Ducale di Agliè, dates back to the 12th century, but became a Royal summer retreat for the House of Savoy in the 18th century. It has 300 rooms, containing collections of furniture, paintings, archaeological finds and through to surprising ornithological and oriental collections.

It is surrounded by a large English- and Italian-style park, with ancient trees and vast glasshouses.

The Castle of Agliè was acquired in 1765 by the House of Savoy and transformed in a comfortable residence around 1775 by Benedetto de Savoy. It was sold to the state in 1939.
