Château de Fougères

Castles & Country Houses
Château de Fougères belongs to the municipality of Fougères and is one of Europe's largest medieval fortresses.

Its history goes back to the 11th century when it was built by the House of Amboise. Later, Raoul II Baron de Fougères used to keep his donkeys there, which still can be seen to today as donkeys graze in the castle's courtyard.
