The East Slovak Museum tells the story the history and nature of Eastern Slovakia through its collections of currently around 500.000 objects. A selection of the museum's large collections are on display in permanent thematic expositions in different buildings:
- Carpathian Nature, Hviezdoslavova Street No. 3., is dedicated to the nature of the Carpathian region, including the history of the Earth, the origin of rocks and minerals, fossilized world, realm of minerals, beauty of stones, gracefulness of plants, irreplaceable world of the nature and diversity of animal species.
- Centuries in Art, Hviezdoslavova Street No. 3, showing the development of art from the early Middle Ages to the beginning of the 20th century.
- Rodosto - Francis II Rákóczi's Memorial House, Hrnčiarska street No. 7, dedicated to Prince Francis II Rákóczi (1676 – 1735), a leader of the Hungarian uprising against the Habsburg regime in 1703-11
- Košice's centuries – Mikluš's prison, Pri Miklušovej väznici No. 10, dedicated to the history of Košice.
