Grassi Palace - Pinault Collection
Castles & Country Houses, Museums & Art Centres, Private Collections
Palazzo Grassi and Punta della Dogana are the contemporary art museums of the Pinault Collection in Venice. Palazzo Grassi was built for the Grassi family between 1748 and 1772 by architect Giorgio Massari.
The palace is beautifully frescoed by Michelangelo Morlaiter and Francesco Zanchi, whereas the ceilings are decorated by the artists Giambattista Canal and Christian Griepenkerl. The Grassi family sold the palace in 1840 and changed hands several times before it was acquired by François Pinault in 2005.
The palace has been renovated by Japanese architect Tadao Ando.
