Museo Correr
Castles & Country Houses, Museums & Art Centres
The Museo Correr, housed in the Napoleonic Wing of the Piazza San Marco, contains a multitude of rich collections, representing the arts and the history of the city.
The wing, designed as a new residence for the Napoleonic sovereign and the Viceroy Eugene de Beauharnais, was however only finished later under Austrian rule, including also the Giardinetto Reale. Consequently the building contains many Napoleonic and Habsburg features.
Among the rich and numerous collections, the collection of works by Canova is noteworthy.
Museo Correr is managed by the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia.
