The KW Institute for Contemporary Art, established in the early 1990s by Klaus Biesenbach, is an art centre for temporary exhibitions, artists ateliers and other cultural events. In 1997, KW founded the Berlin Biennial for Contemporary Art  (Berlin Biennale für zeitgenössische Kunst ).
