Museums & Art Centres
The Bode Museum, being one of the five museums forming the "Museum Insel" (Museum Island), houses the Sculpture Collection, the Museum of Byzantine Art and the Numismatic Collections. The museum was opened in 1904 as the Kaiser-Friedrich-Museum, built in Baroque Revival Style and designed by Eberhard von Ihne.

In 1956 it was renamed the "Bode Museum" after its first director and spiritual founder, Wilhelm von Bode.
