Artist Colony Mathildenhöhe Darmstadt is a group of buildings, created by artists from the Art Nouveau period. The artists' individual houses, studios and other constructions, served at the same time as exhibits.
The constructions are located in a landscape park.
It was established on the initiative of Grand Duke Ernst Ludwig of Hesse, in 1899, as an economic and cultural stimulus.
There is an original and unique Wedding Tower, still today an important venue for weddings.
