The Vasarely Museum, Budapest, housed in a renovated part of the impressive baroque Zichy Castle complex, is a branch of Museum of Fine Arts in Budapest. It displays an impressive collection of over 400 art works of the Op art painter & sculptor, Victor Vasarely (1906-1997).
Vasarely spent most of his life in Paris, where he became a world-famous painter, receiving also several international awards and recognitions, including one from the UNESCO.
There are four permanent exhibitions of his work; in two French museums, and two in Hungary, one in Budapest and one in Pécs.
Zichy Castle is a baroque building, once the residence of the Counts Zichy, which today houses the Vasarely Museum, Kassák Museum and the local history museum of Óbuda.
