Wilhelmshöhe Palace

Wilhelmshöhe Palace was built for Landgrave Wilhelm (William) IX of Hesse in the late 18th century. The last German Emperor Wilhelm II used it on a regular basis. Today it houses the Old Masters Picture Gallery, the Collection of Antiques, and the Collection of Prints and Drawings as well as the Schlossmuseum in the Weissenstein Wing, and a reference library in the Kirch Wing.
The palace is surrounded by a famous park of 560 ha. The castle and park are listed as a World Cultural Heritage site by UNESCO's World Heritage Committee.
