Castle Fraeylamaborg's history goes back to the Middle-Ages. It is surrounded by an English landscape-style park.
In 1972 the last aristocratic family Thomassen à Theussink van der Hoop van Slochteren handed the estate over to the Gerrit van Houten Foundation. It is now a museum with style- and exhibition rooms.
The house and park are open to the public, whereas it is also a venue for weddings.
