New Castle of Cesis
Castles & Country Houses, Museums & Art Centres
The New Castle of Cesis (Castle-Manor), part of the Cesis castle complex, obtained its present dimensions when it was acquired after 1777 by Count Karl Eberhard von Sievers. The von Sievers family lived there until the First World War. Today it houses the Cesis History and Art Museum.
Interesting are the Castle's restored and reconstructed interiors, such as its Great Hall with the restored rose motif in free-hand painting, Count Sievers' study, the coffee room with its Biedermeier interior decoration, and the castle library.
