Royal Palace of La Granja de San Ildefonso

Royal Palace of La Granja de San Ildefonso is the "Versailles of Spain", and was built 1721-24 for King Philip V, the Spanish grandson of Louis XIV. It is surrounded by stunning 607 ha Spanish-French Baroque gardens, English landscape-style gardens and woodlands.
In particular the waterworks are impressive.
The palace was the main summer palace of the Spanish Bourbons until the reign of Alfonso XIII, who reigned from 1886-1931.
The interior is beautifully decorated and contains furniture, painting, portraits, sculptures...
The palace is part of the Patrimonio Nacional, managing the Spanish State and Crown properties.
